  • Grandfather of Gore

Fulci is a rare breed of director who used movies to effect the viewer in subconscious ways... he would intentionally make the plot of movies drab and meaningless to heighten the shock and visceral feel of the horror scenes... while i have yet to see the majority of his movies, he also takes the achievement of one of the goriest directors ever... some scenes i still have a hard time watching even after knowing how it was done and seeing it 20 times (the girl vomiting out her own intestines in City of the Living Dead/Gateway to Hell is a prime example)... If you are a horror or gore buff, and you haven't seen Fulci, you owe it to your self to rent or buy a copy of The Beyond (aka Seven Doors of Death) or City of the Living Dead (aka Gateway to Hell)moreless
