She received an award from the National Board of Review and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Beverly Franco.
Lupe won a Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Prize for Acting Real Women Have Curves in 2002 and a National Board of Review Best Supporting Actress Chuck & Buck in 2000. Lupe was also nominated for an Emmy from her work on Desperate Housewives.
