Tribute to Miss Mabel King.
I first met Miss Mabel King in 1968. In Warwick, NY. I was thirteen years old. To me (in my own despair at that time) she was a most beautiful black women; in a beautiful black dress. She had a lovely warm smile.
And when all of the boys and I side hole too Miss King, and in her own sweet and shy way, she side hole boys back. Beautiful women I thought… I kept it to my self for other reasons. And now it is time that Miss Mabel King get the recognition she deserve.
Even though Larry (the cigarette boy) her son and I were most of the time at each other’s throats. We did share captivity together. I wish I’d have toted hem that he have a very beautiful mother.
