Macdonald Carey began his acting career in the 1940's starring in several "B" movies. In the 1950's he appeared on numerous television programs finally landing his own program in 1956 called Dr. Christian which lasted one season and in 1959 the television program Lock-Up lasting two seasons. But it wasn't until 1965 where he would receive his most recognizable role on television that of Dr. Tom Horton on the daytime soap Days of Our Lives. To this day it is his voice that murmurs the words "As sand thru an hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives".
