  • I think that this guy is so underated as an actor. He was great on Crossing Jordan, and is incredibly compelling on The 4400.

I first became aware of Mahershalalhasbaz Ali when he showed up on Season 1 of one of my favorite shows Crossing Jordan as Dr. Trey Sanders. I liked his character then, and I thought that he was handsome. I started watching The 4400 because I saw him in the previews for the pilot, and I haven't regretted it yet. He portrays Richard Tyler,a soldier, and one of the 4400 people taken to the future, and returned in 2004, never having aged even a day, even though he was gone 50 years. His character Richard falls in love with and marries Lily the grandaughter and namesake of his true love Lily. They have a daughter named Isabelle who has some very special powers. He plays a good dad, who is troubled by his daughter's abilities. I think that this actor is going to go far beyond TV in the future.moreless

'Mahershalalhashbaz' is in fact a sentence in HEBREW, taken directly from the bible.

It is n fact 3 sepparte words:

"Ma-Her" which means 'quick' or 'fast'

"Sha-Lal" which means 'loot' or 'treasure'

"Hash-Baz" which is a shortcut of 3 or 4 other

words(!) - which I can't remember now, but think

that the meaning of it all is: "Don't rush yourself to get. or do,things, because you will find that not all will turn out as you expect.."

My question is: which parents would give achild such a name? it is so unique...moreless
