Mandy Moore was born in Nashua, New Hampshire to Don and Stacy Moore. Her mother is a former newspaper reporter, and her father is a pilot. She is of Irish and Cherokee heritage on her father's side, and she's also of English decent. Mandy has two brothers, Scott and Kyle. She grew up in Seminole County, Florida, outside of Orlando, moving there only six weeks after her birth because of her father's job. Mandy was raised in the Catholic religion (although she is no longer a practicing Catholic), and attended Park Maitland School (for elementary school) in Maitland, Florida, Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando and Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs. Mandy also attended the famous Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Camp.

Her interest in singing grew after seeing the musical Oklahoma!; she was also encouraged to perform by her maternal grandmother, who was her inspiration. Her route to fame started when she was named the National Anthem Girl because she sang The Star-Spangled Banner for all major sports teams and for Chris Evert's Pro-Celebrity Tennis Tournament. She was spotted by a FedEx employee, who sent her demo to Epic Records; She was signed with the record company at the age of fourteen and toured with The Backstreet Boys throughout 1999. She has since released albums and compilations regulary.

Starting in 2000 Mandy began starring in movies, and her appearances since then include Dedication, License to Wed, Chasing Liberty, The Princess Diaries, and Romance & Cigarettes.

Mandy used to date actor Wilmer Valderrama of That '70s Show. She dated pro-tennis star Andy Roddick from July 2002 to March 2004. He is said to have broken up with her because he was jealous that she was more famous than he was. In 2006 Mandy split from her boyfriend of two years, Zach Braff and in early 2007 she was romantically linked to Adam Goldstein, also known as DJ AM. Mandy also dated Matthew Perry in 2007.

After becoming engage in February 2009, Mandy and Ryan Adams married in secret in Georgia one month later March 10, 2009, with no family or friends present. For the ceremony, Mandy wore a cream lace dress and flat sandals, while Ryan wore a pair of skin-tight jeans along with a T-shirt and runners.
