Martha: (on storylines she would love to do as Belle in Days Of Our Lives) Personally, I have wanted to do something more with narcotic or drug addiction. I would like to play that, but I don't see that in Belle's future. To have a character like Belle is great because you are central to the show, but you don't get a lot of range for what you get to play. Either you're angry or upset or complaining. I see how (Head Writer) Hogan Sheffer is trying to make the character stronger and smarter; I love that, but I would like to see her loosen up and have some fun.
Martha: (on working on Days Of Our Lives) I'm the luckiest girl in the world. I get to do what I love on the show that I love, every day. It doesn't get better than that.
Martha: (on AJ) We are very opposite in that way. He is very down to business, cut and dry, and not at all entertained or amused by the entertainment business. I find that very refreshing in a city where that's all that there is.
Martha: (asked how she met husband AJ) He owns a couple of restaurants here in California, one of which I used to be the general manager of. That's how we met. I've known him since the week I moved to Los Angeles, almost four years ago. He was the first guy I met when I moved to LA. My whole life started coming together when I got off that plane, so I am glad I did it!
Martha: (motto she lives by) "To thine one self, be true". Nobody has to live your life but you. Make the choices in life that will make you the happiest. You can't go wrong if you only listen to your own heart. I believe your first instinct is usually the right one. Go with it!
Martha: (her heroes) There are a lot of people whom I admire, but my mother is my all time hero. She's the most strong-willed person I know. She has certainly shown me the kind of person I'd like to become.
Martha: (on her favourite holiday destination) There's nothing quite like home, but a week on the gulf coast of Florida will always make me grin ear to ear.
Martha: (on her favourite food) I am totally anti-Atkins. I'm a carb junkie. I should probably work on that. I love good pizza. It's a problem sometimes...
Martha: (asked about her reaction to getting the role of Belle on Days Of Our Lives) I didn't really have time to have much of a reaction. I went directly into hair and makeup. But I was stunned, just completely shocked. Adrenaline just totally took over. It was the most amazing day. I'll never forget it.
Martha: (on her mother's battle with MS) As I grew older, I began to understand that my mother was really sick. She had her fair share of good days, but her periodic attacks got worse and worse. A childhood memory that will never escape me was visiting her in the hospital; she was partially paralyzed and wearing an eye patch because she had temporarily gone blind. I was so scared and confused but her tremendous courage and resilience, as well as available treatments, brought us all through it.
