Martin Crewes graduated from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre.
His Australian theatre credits include the Brisbane and Adelaide seasons of The Wizard of Oz and Gale Edwards' production of Aspects of Love. He alternated the role of the Pharaoh in the Sydney season of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and played Chino in the first Australian tour of Ian Judge's West Side Story.
Between shows martin appeared as the steroid-abusing aerobic trampolinist Chip Kelly in 'Neighbours' and had guest
… More roles on such TV series as 'RFDS', 'Phoenix' and 'Newlyweds'.
In 1995 Martin performed the role of Lt. Joe Cable in the Gordon/Frost production of South Pacific in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The following year he played Marius in the international tour of Les Miserables performing in Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea and Cape Town and in 1997 played the same role in the original production on London's West End. Martin lived and worked in London for the next four years appearing as Dino in the Orange Tree Theatre production of The Rink and as Joey Evans in the Chichester Theatre Festival production of Pal Joey . He spent two years in the hit Sky TV series 'Dream Team' as the Argentinean player/manager Luis Rodriguez and played Anthony Sullivan in series 1 and 2 of ITV mini-series 'Daylight Robbery'.
In December 2000 Martin performed the opening number of the 'Royal Variety Performance', directed by Kim Gavin, in the presence of HRH Prince Charles.
Most recently Martin portrayed the role of Kaplan in the Paul Anderson feature film Resident Evil released in April 2002 starring Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez.
After Martin completed the film in 2001, he returned to Australia, and continued to do what he enjoys most - musicals.
