In 2012, Mary-Kate and Ashley were nominated for the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award.
In 2004, Mary-Kate and Ashley became sole owners of Dualstar Entertainment Group. The organization was formed around the girls when they were very young by Robert Thorne and Greg Redlitz.

The casting director for Weeds once said that he had Mary-Kate go through the audition process twice for her role, just to make sure she was right for it. Actress Kirstie Alley, who played Mary-Kate's kind and loving social worker in the 1995 film It Takes Two, has said that she feels Hollywood-based pressure may have contributed to Mary-Kate's eating disorder in 2003. "They're in an adult world with adult jobs, and they're basically children," Alley has said of both Mary-Kate and Ashley.
In March 2007, Ashley and Mary-Kate revealed they planned to get matching nose jobs. After Ashley revealed to Mary-Kate that she thought her nose was too big and she was going to have rhinoplasty, Mary-Kate jumped at the idea as well.
