With such talent its a wonder we do not see her more often,but like any great actress she picks her roles with great care.Her skill as an actress can be seen in such movie roles as Floris (1999) in Being John Malkovich.In 2000 Mary was nominated for a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Theatrical Motion Picture.Also in (1999) Girl, Interrupted as Barbara Gilcrest another great performance.

Lets not forget Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman as Loretta Haggers.If your a Tales of the City Lover as I am you will remember that there is a scene where Mary Ann Singleton (Laura Linney) is watching this show...What a great way to say thank you to Mary Kay by having that in the show.

Mary Kay's performance in the first Tales of the City was small but well remembered."Lets rap about rape."Her performance in Further Tales of the City as Prue Giroux was such a wonder that she had me at the edge of my seat more then once.
