Through his acting career, Matt has played a beauty pageant announcer twice (once in Little Miss Sunshine and another time in an episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody).

Matt served as a puppeteer for the 1993 flick Jurassic Park.

Matt is the son of special effects wizard Stan Winston, who died June 15, 2008.

He attended Yale University.

Matt started perfoming at the tender age of five in school plays.

Matt says he gets most recognized for his role as "Terry" on Six Feet Under.

Matt has a Star Trek: Enterprise season one trading card of him due to his once being a cast member of that show.

Matt married Amy Smallman on October 11 1998. They are still married. They have had two children together. These are Matt's only children.
