Maury Chaykin is an American actor. He was born on 27th July, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York. His father, Irvin J. Chaykin, is an accountant and his mother, Clarice Chaykin, is a nurse. He attended the State University of New York, Buffalo where he studied drama. He was famous for playing supporting roles in films such as Owning Mahowny, Soup for One and Harry & Son. He was married twice, his first wife being Ilana Frank, and Susannah Hoffman being his second. His name Chaykin is an adaptation of the Russian word Chakya, which means seagull. He moved to Toronto, Canada after his formative education years, but continued to hold American citizenship. His role as computer programmer in War Games led to his recognition as a consummate actor. Another film in which he appeared in a career-defining role is the 1990 film, Dances with Wolves. Chaykin suffered from kidney disease and passed away on 27th July, 2010 in Toronto.
