The daughter of Puerto Rican and Greek parents, Mayita was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, and moved to the United States when she was three years old. As a child, Mayita traveled extensively throughout Europe with her parents, exploring life in Spain and Greece, and summering with her grandmother in Turkey. Gardening was an early interest that was rekindled as an adult when Mayita planted fruit trees as a Mother's Day present. The magical transformation from glorified sticks to flowering trees convinced her to pursue a career in… More landscape design. The majority of her work consists of residential gardens, but she has ventured into commercial work as well. In fact, she recently received an award from the City of West Hollywood, California, for her work on a tea garden she designed for Elixir, a popular spot among celebrities and other stressed out Angelinos that specializes in tonics, teas and Chinese herbal preparations.
When she's not designing gardens, Mayita enjoys dining with friends and family; she also loves to tour gardens and talk shop with her cohorts. Mayita resides in Los Angeles with her husband, son, and dog.

Having lived on the show with my family (Oster family), Mayita was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She is genuine and kind and I thank her for the kindness she showed toward my children, we love you Mayita and miss you.
