Mei Melancon was born in the Philippines but grew up mainly in Japan. With her family she traveled regularly to different countries in Asia and Europe where they were involved in Charity work. At the age of 5 her mother started teaching her guitar and during school breaks she was part of a performance group that traveled and performed extensively throughout Asia. She also acted in school plays, her favorite being Hans Christian Andersons, "The Little Match Girl." She was exposed mainly to classic movies such as "Ben Hur," "National Velvet," and "My Fair Lady." Her movie idols were Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall and Audrey Hepburn. She started acting in 2004.
