Trivia and Quotes

  • Quotes

    • Mel: We don't have punch-ups anymore, like we used to at 22, when there would be a few too many drinks and we'd all get overexcited. I never had any of them by the throat - but I wanted to!

    • Mel: I have never kissed a girl in a sexual way apart from jokingly with the Spice Girls. A few of them have swapped kisses. But that's as far as it went, as far as I know - when I was in the room anyway.

    • Mel: (on the reunion of The Spice Girls in 2007) This is our final farewell. We wanted an opportunity to get together to really celebrate everything we've achieved and give a great big thank you to our fans. We just want to make this the best pop show that a British band has ever put on.

    • Mel: (on the reformed Spice Girls ) Mel B isn't as scary as she used to be, she's definitely mellowed somewhat. But she's still very feisty. Ginger is a little bit lighter now, her hair is a little bit more golden. Baby's always going to be the baby, she's the youngest. And Victoria is very posh.

    • Mel: Lady Sovereign. That's what my brother and my mates call me. She kind of looks like Sporty Spice.

    • Mel: I'm not comparing myself to Robbie in any way, but I hope and pray that I wouldn't get depressed if my album didn't do well. I try really hard to get a balance in my life so that my career isn't the only thing in it.

    • Mel: I couldn't live there, or stand being followed as much as Victoria. I'm happy in England with my little trips to our place in Wales.

    • Mel: When you find yourself in that position your freedom goes. So I'm weighing it all up. My mum looks forward to having grandchildren.

    • Mel: Everyone is doing so well - Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton seem to be thriving on motherhood and pregnancy. Geri has chilled out and Emma is going to be a great mother.

    • Mel: A one-off show would be ideal, but we haven't had any offers yet.

    • Mel: We wouldn't want to reform like Take That - we can't make that kind of commitment at the moment. With the impending babies, family is priority in Spice World right now!

    • Mel: I'd love to support them. Take That used to be my guilty pleasure. I was a bit old to like them but did anyway.

    • Mel: (admitting she had an affair with Robbie Williams in the late 90s) I've turned down so many people on this question. It was ten f***ing years ago and I'm still talking about it! It was nothing serious but we went on a couple of dates and it didn't really work out. It was just a chemistry thing really, sometimes there's not a major reason. He was busy traveling all over the world and so was I. At the end of the day, you're never going to get Robbie to settle down are you? You're never going to tame that beast!

    • Mel C: In the beginning, being labeled "the plain one" did hurt, but everyone's got an opinion and you've just got to live with it.

    • Mel C: I have many more possibilities when working solo. I can put what I want to onto the record.

    • Mel C: I am still happy with the Spice Girls and cannot imagine myself without the others. But in a group you have to make compromises.

    • Mel C: Yes, I had problems but I am not ashamed of my depression.

    • Mel C: It is a bit weird as I am not lesbian myself.

    • Mel C: (When asked if what "girl power" means to her) A girl can play soccer too.
