Melissa: (on how difficult it is the career in acting) If I had any advice for my 16-year-old self, it would just be to stay strong, because acting is not an easy lifestyle, especially when you are starting out. That being said, it definitely makes it all worth it when it does happen.
Melissa: (on not being very social while she was younger) At school, when it came to being social, I had no idea how to do it.
Melissa: (on preferring acting over singing) I'm definitely interested in doing movies. I've always focused more on acting than singing because that's where my true passion lies.
Melissa: (on doing musical theater)I did musical theater growing up and it taught me so much about how to express myself.
Melissa: (on part of her personality) I'm a really emotional person, like, scarily so.
Melissa: (on the need for strong female lead characters in hero action movies and TV) We've had some female characters who are badasses, but I think it's just time for a female-centered heroic story.
Melissa: (on on part of her personality) I'm a person that is really afraid of confrontation. I always have been. That's slowly but surely fading in a way that's graceful. I try to confront with grace and strength.
Melissa: (on moving to New York to study acting) I didn't know anyone but I just plunged right in. I thrived there even though the city kicked my ass a few times.
