Meredith: (on moving to New York to pursue a career in acting) It was all very scary to start with, but it turned out to the best experience of my life. I made some great friends at drama school. Going away taught me everything about life.
Meredith: I wanted to be a judge. As a teenager, I was always aware of the injustice towards women in the legal system. There are so many women who have suffered rape or domestic violence and the system just lets them down.
Meredith: (on being offered drugs) I've been offered cocaine and acid [LSD] but I said no. With any drug, you just don't know what you're getting. Es can be cut with heroin, you just don't know. People can take one and die. I don't need drugs to have a good time.
Meredith: Today, our way of living and learning is easier. But the real things haven't changed.
Meredith: (on women now and then) We are so loose now with our bodies and with our vocabularies. Women were in a different place then.
Meredith: (on Wilmington, North Carolina where they shot "Dawson's Creek") I love it. The different seasons are great and it's a wonderful community.
Meredith: (describing her life then -- interview on January 2001) It's very peaceful and I have lots of wonderful memories.
Meredith: (on her send off from "Dawson's Creek" The producers and writers had a party for me, then the cast threw another one. I got loads of presents and cards - it was very wonderful and very special... with lots of tears!
Meredith: (on her home during the filming of "Dawson's Creek") Wilmington is a really nice place to live and it's been a beautiful place with a beach so it's incredibly relaxing. I like to run and bike. It's nice living in a small town but you get cabin fever and you start to think, "Arghh! I need shopping! I need museums! I need nightlife!".
Meredith: (on whether she prefers film work to television) You know what? Whoever has an exciting, interesting, wonderful character - it doesn't matter.
Meredith: I've always kind of liked thriller-mystery television shows and books. I've always been intrigued by that kind of stuff.
