The quintessential "little old lady," Merie Earle had a prolific career, even though she didn't start acting professionally until late in life. Merie loved to perform, even when she was a child. As a young woman Merie lived in Cleveland with her husband, an engineer with the New York Central Railroad. Her husband's job afforded Merie many opportunities to travel to New York to attend Broadway shows. After her husband retired the couple moved to southern California, where Merie was "discovered" by a Hollywood agent while she was performing in a church play. She appeared in many commercials, and later moved on to parts in movies and many guest starring roles on television.
