Birth Name

Merritt Wever is an American actress who is best known for her role as student nurse, Zoey Barkow, on the hit Showtime television series, Nurse Jackie. Born in 1980, the New York native began acting while attending classes at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, N.Y. Her career started on the stage with appearances on two Off Broadway plays during this period, before turning her focus to films and television. Wever's film career has been met with success with appearances in hit movies such as Signs (2001) and Michael Clayton (2007). However, her television career has earned her a name with a number of guest starring roles on staples such as Law and Order, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, The Wire and Nurse Jackie. Particularly in Nurse Jackie, Wever's role as the annoyingly bubbly nurse Zoey has earned her a number of fans, especially when compared to hard-bitten personality of the show's star, Edie Falco, who plays Jackie.
