Michael was orignally intended to star as Kane in the pilot episode of Buck Rogers In The 25th Century but was unavailable and so Henry Silva was chosen, as the pilot was shown in theaters and the producers believed he had more box-office draw.
Michael was set in 1963 to be in a planned spin-off from MCA/Revue Studios based on the Wagon Train character he played, Dr. Adam McKenzie, but the producers were unable to get studio support.
