Michael Gough was a prolific British character actor amassing over 170 film and TV appearances in his career. (In fact, he appeared in at least one film every year from 1947-2000.) He's best known for portraying Alfred in the Batman movie series beginning in 1987, the title character in Doctor Who in 1965, and various roles in the Hammer horror films.

    Very cool actor. hide show

    I have seen all of the Batman movies with him in them. Personally I think he did the best Alfred Pennyworth ever. Hopefully his great acting will continute for years to come. I also hope that in any sequels that might be made for Batman & Robin he will get his role as Alfred back.
