I've never seen Veronica Mars and did not know of Michael until recently when I had the pleasure of seeing him at a convention. In 6 years of con-going I don't think I've seen a more genuine guy and for the first time I can remember I feel compelled say how impressed I was by him. It was a pleasure to listen to him speak (which provided more than a few laughs!) and I can honestly say I'll be tracking his career with great interest from now on. I can't say how refreshing it was to see someone from the TV industry still firmly rooted in reality. It can only be a matter of time until he gets a kick ass lead role :)
Not only that he's talented he's also a great person!
He made Don Lamb (his character on the TV show "Veronica Mars")be loved by many people even though originaly his character is not so loveable.
He's love for his character was shining through the TV!
Michael is a great guy who has excellent relations with his fans (who he rather not call that way and prefers calling them his "hobbits") and everyone who ever met him says how nice he is.
I think we will see him eventually break through to a lead role and will enjoy, once again, his talent on our TV sets.
All right, I admit it: I'm more than a little bit in love with Michael Muhney. My crush may have started with those gorgeous baby blue eyes, and the lazy, wicked grin of Sheriff Don Lamb in his all-too-infrequent appearances in the first season of Veronica Mars.
In season one, the sheriff is practically the archetypical "love-to-hate-him" character, who foils the heroine whenever he can, just because he can. Michael delivers snide barbs and sarcastic quips with an unstudied ease. In season two of Veronica Mars, the character's storylines are broadened, and I ended up yelling at my TV (I don't do this very often, I swear) because in the space of a few minutes near the end of episode 2.7 (Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner), Lamb grows from being the character I loved to hate, into a fleshed-out human being. In subsequent episodes (such as One Angry Veronica, Donut Run, and Look Who's Stalking), further facets of Lamb are revealed, as much through the choices Michael Muhney makes about the character as through the show's writing.
But "gorgeous" and "brilliant actor" aren't enough to sustain a long-term interest for me. Fortunately, that's not all that Michael Muhney has to offer the world. He goes out of his way to set up meetings with fans who don't live in Southern California. He raises money for charities by getting sponsors for his participation in marathons, and even by offering up his time (and in one notable instance, his body) for auction. He greets fans warmly, even when approached outside a convention or autograph session, and frequently later posts about the meetings in an online fan community (the members of which he affectionately refers to as his "hobbits"). And --this is what really sells me on Michael-- he does it all with nearly-impeccable grammar. Rock on, brotha!
