Biography:

Michelle A. Collins was born on May 28, 1963 in Hackney, East London and began studying theatre acting from a young age: training at the Royal Court Activists and the Cockpit Youth Theatre before studying drama and theatre at A-Level. Upon leaving school, she landed a part in Bulgakov's "The Crimson Island" at the Gate theatre - but her career soon took another direction as she joined Mari Wilson and the Wilsations as a backing singer, touring the UK for 18 months. When the band split in 1982, Michelle went back into acting, landing a part in the musical "HMV" and then moving into television in the BBC drama "Morgan's Boy". In 1988 Michelle auditioned for "Eastenders", gaining the part and staying in the show until 1998, after which her career flourished and she became one of the UK's most well-known TV actresses starring in multiple successful dramas.
