Mike McCready was born April 5, 1965 in Pensacola Flordia. Mike and his family moved to Seattle Washington after his birth. Mike McCready has many influences who made him want to start playing guitar. Some of his favorite bands include Aerosmith, Kiss, and Def Leppard. He starting taking his guitar lessons when he was about eleven, and was in his first band Shadow by the eighth grade.

Mike McCready was introduced to Stone Gossard who was in Mother Love Bone at the time. Inmpressed by Mike McCready while playing at a party. When Mother Love Bone's lead singer died Stone Gossard

… More called Mike, and asked if they can play together. A little later Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, and Eddie Vedder got together and formed Pearl Jam. Also Chris Cornell, and some of the members of Pearl Jam formed Temple of the Dog, and released an album in 1991 as a tribute to Andrew Wood.
