Nathan Fillion

Nathan has twice played the role of a maternity doctor. Once was when he played Dr. Adam Mayfair on Desperate Housewives and once when he played Dr. Pomatter in the 2007 flick, Waitress.

Nathan was engaged to actress Vanessa Marcil in the 1990's. Even though they are no longer a couple, the two have remained friendly through the years. Vanessa even mentioned in her speech at the Emmy Awards that he was the person who had helped her through tough times and gave her the strength she needed to get through them.

Nathan appeared in an episode of the popular TV show, Lost, in an episode entitled I Do. In both this episode and the Firefly episode Our Mrs. Reynolds, Nathan plays a man who marries a woman whose true name he does not know and is later drugged by his wife and passes out. Neither of his characters' marriages lasted long.

During the filming of the fight scene between Mal and the Operative in the film, Serenity, Nathan repeatedly slammed his face into the Plexiglas floor to make it look more real. As a result, his left cheek became swollen. Nobody realized this until his make up was being touched up by the make-up artist.

According to Joss Whedon, Nathan blinked when he wasn't supposed to in the opening scene of Serenity (the pilot episode of Firefly) and it had to be removed with CGI.

Nathan's recent film, Slither, did not earn its budget at the box office. The film earned 12.2 million US dollars worldwide, but the total budget (including marketing) was 29.5 million US dollars.

Nathan and Alicia Silverstone had the opportunity to work together again when he was cast as Adam Logan on Miss Match.

When Nathan won best actor at the 2006 SyFy Genre Awards for his portrayal of Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly, the show had been off the air for around 3 years.

Nathan has lived in Los Angeles since 1996.
