Nick was sued in 2004 by the parents of a teenage girl on charges of negligence after a security guard working in his home supplied their daughter and other minors with drugs and alcohol.
In 1978, Karen Louise Ecklund, his girlfriend of 5 years sued him for $4.5 million in claims he promised to finance her business endeavors. The case was settled out of court.
Nick: I never felt comfortable in real life very well. It's always been an awkward kind of thing for me and so when I hit the stage I just sensed freedom. I sensed here's a place that I can have all the experiences of life and not feel uncomfortable about.
Nick: You have to struggle a bit, hustle a little, and be willing to go bankrupt. Once you're willing to do that, everything opens up and you get the freedom.
