Birth Name

Nicki Clyne

Nicki Clyne, who was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, is popularly known to science fiction enthusiasts as Crewman Specialist Cally Henderson Tyrol on the political sci-fi drama Battlestar Galactica. Even as a child, Nicki had her heart set out on entertaining. She used to invite her neighbors and charge five dollars for the dance performances she and her friend put up in their backyard. And although no one really came, they still continued with their show. In high school, she acted in school plays and portrayed the title role in a local production of Little Orphan Annie.

She attended some acting courses growing up and after graduating from Hugh Boyd Secondary School in Richmond, British Columbia (June 2000), Clyne finally got herself a talent agent and auditioned for TV and movie roles. Nicki also went to University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University, both located in Vancouver. In 2002, she got a bit part as a Talon waitress in an episode of the Vancouver-filmed CW series Smallville. It was originally meant to develop as a recurring role, but that never materialized. Her other TV appearances include guest-starring roles in The Dead Zone, The L Word, and Dead Like Me among others.

In 2004, Nicki made her film feature debut as a lead actress and starred with fellow Vancouver native and Battlestar Galactica co-star Paul Campbell in Ill Fated, an independently-produced Canadian film about the quirky life in a small town. She also had minor roles in the more popular movies, Saved! (2004) and John Tucker Must Die (2006). In the mini-series which eventually developed into the Sci-Fi Channel series, Battlestar Galactica, Clyne merely played a background character, but her role became an essential cog in the later development of the show as the wife of Senior Chief Petty Officer Galen Tyrol or "The Chief" (played by Aaron Douglas).
