  • Ah yes.

Nigel Planer he plays roles from hippies to narrators. Quite a difference if you ask me. Nigel Planer currently narrates a show on CITV The grizzly tales.......... etc. Which he does really well.

I think that his best acting is in the young ones because it is not what he says it how he acts and how he says things. Not many people can do that. He can show a wide amount of talents in acting and that deserves credit and alot of that to. Nigel Planer is one of the all time greats and a personal favourite of mine.moreless
  • A man of a thousand voices, excellent reader of many of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels, and an essential part of the quartet of crazy students in the 80s show “The Young Ones”.moreless

Nigel Planer is, for me, first and foremost the thousand voices of the Discworld. He is a wonderful reader. His rendition of so many Terry Pratchett novels is amazing, increasing the books’ charm and their very British humour. He also did justice to Nick Hornby’s novel, “High Fidelity”. It made it quite easy to imagine him in John Cusack’s role in the American screen version of the book.

Although “The Young Ones” is not one of my favourits, his portrayal of the unhappy hippy Neil Pye made up for the grossest gags of this 80s cult TV show.

His brief appearance is Blackadder the Third as half of the Richard Curtis/Ben Elton's version of the Scarlet Pimpernel was hilarious.

I’d like to see more of him on TV, but most of all, I would love to listen to him reading some of my favourite books.moreless
