Nina published her first book, The Little Black Book of Style (Harper Collins), on September 5, 2007.
She worked for Elle Magazine for 13 years.
In May 2007 Garcia was a judge for the Miss Universe competition in Mexico City.
Apart from her position at Marie Claire, she covers the designer fashion markets of New York, Milan and Paris, and is relied upon as a fashion authority and has participated in numerous television interviews, most recently appearing on The View and The Today Show as a trend expert.
In her role as fashion director at Marie Claire, Garcia currently oversees the fashion coverage for the magazine and runs the fashion department.
She is fluent in Spanish and conversational in French.
As a teen, she traveled extensively with her family through Europe and Asia.
Studied liberal arts at Boston University and later attended the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Born and raised in Colombia, she moved to the United States at the age of fifteen to go to school.
On March 24, 2007 Nina and her husband David Conrod had their first baby boy. He was named Lucas Alexander Conrod and weighted 7 lb 6 oz (3.3 kg) at the time of birth.
Nina: Some girls on the street don't have a lot of money, but they have the best style. It's not about being able to buy everything in the store.
