Paul Thomas Wasilewski

Television and film actor Paul Wesley, popularly known as Stefan Salvatore on CW's vampire drama The Vampire Diaries, has crafted a stellar career ever since his late teen years. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Paul was raised in Marlboro, New Jersey where he became interested in acting while enrolled in a summer arts program in third grade. He attended three different high schools, including an all-boys Catholic school and a public school, before finishing his secondary studies. During his junior year, Paul already began acting professionally so he was often skipping school. He made his television debut as Sean McKinnon in a 1999 episode of the long-running daytime soap Another World.

While trying to fulfill his duties as a student, Wesley starred in another daytime drama, CBS' Guiding Light. After finishing high school, Paul attended a semester of college before dropping out and deciding to focus on his acting career instead. Although his parents would have wanted to see him earn a degree, they fully supported his dream. During his first five years as an actor, he was credited with his birth name Paul Wasilewski in his appearances on prime-time shows like Wolf Lake, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The O.C., and Smallville where he played Lucas, the younger brother of Lex Luthor.

On the big screen, Wesley was involved in projects such as Minority Report (2002) starring Tom Cruise, The Last Run (2004) with Fred Savage and Amy Adams, Peaceful Warrior (2006) alongside Nick Nolte, and the slasher-flick satire Killer Movie (2008) with Kaley Cuoco and fiancée Torrey DeVitto. His other notable TV characters included Tommy Callahan, the drug-dealing friend of Amy Abbott (Emily VanCamp) on Everwood, Tommy DeFelice, the racist football teammate and friend of JJ Pryor (Will Estes) on American Dreams, and Patrolman First Logan Atwater on Army Wives. In 2009, Paul was tapped by CW to play the good half of the Salvatore vampire brothers in the TV series adaptation of the L.J. Smith novels, The Vampire Diaries.
