Pauly: You'd think when you saw my old MTV stuff that I was always drunk and high and all that stuff. I wasn't.
-
Pauly: You plan and sit down with everyone, here's what we're going to do. It's very hard.
-
Pauly: You look at Seinfeld and guys like Dennis Miller and Bill Maher, those guys are more highbrow. Their comedy has always been that way.
-
Pauly: You look at Hanks or Robin Williams, and they were regarded as goofballs at the beginning of their careers. They got an opportunity to work with a great director.
-
Pauly: You have to have a little leverage. Quentin Tarantino wasn't calling me up.
-
Pauly: You have to go away to come back. That's just normal. That's with bands, actors, comedians, everything.
-
Pauly: Whenever someone dies everyone says, 'I love that guy', except for Jeffrey Dahmer.
-
Pauly: When Sam was getting hot I was like 17 years old. I was in awe of him.
-
Pauly: When I'm doing comedy it's like Rodney Dangerfield going on stage and not saying I don't get any respect. It's what people love.
-
Pauly: They thought my movies were bad. Why are they paying this moron to do this?
-
Pauly: They don't look outside the box, so instead of waiting I just made fun of that situation.
-
Pauly: There's a lot of people out there who didn't like my style of comedy.
-
Pauly: The reality is that 99 percent of the kids in this town come from someone. I can go down the list with the Sheen brothers, the Baldwin brothers. Nicolas Cage.
-
Pauly: The MTV thing is the thing that I will always tip my hat to because that was like my acting class and how I got comfortable in front of a camera and how I kind of created my own thing.
-
Pauly: The Hilton sisters make their film debut with a cameo appearance in Pauly Shore Is Dead. It also marks the first time they've been filmed in a bed without night vision.
-
Pauly: The Comedy Store attracts all types of people, growing up I was able to meet them all.
-
Pauly: The comedy comes from the situation, as opposed to me bumping into a wall or jumping off of a table and falling down.
-
Pauly: That's the biggest rule in Hollywood: Don't spend your own money.
-
Pauly: That show is set up to dis people. I got set up. I got punked. They punked me. It's hard to look cool in a situation like that. It's like stepping on a banana peel.
-
Pauly: Son-In-Law was kind of my crossover. It was the movie that brought me out of the MTV audience into the mainstream.
-
Pauly: Sesame Street... I think they were all high. With Big Bird, they had to be high.
-
Pauly: Sam Kinison and Richard Pryor really stood out. They were so lovable and likable.
-
Pauly: People applaud me for spending my own money. Every time I give speeches about the movie or talk about it, they always mention the fact that I spent my own money.
-
Pauly: My whole life, the last 36 years, is in that movie.
-
Pauly: My mom is two people to me. She's my mom number one, and then she's this lady most comedians know as being a legendary owner of a nightclub that's responsible for starting a lot of heavy careers.
-
Pauly: My mom and dad are both in stand-up comedy, so that's where I started, that's where I got everything. My roots are holding the mic.
-
Pauly: My birthday is on Thursday. I'll be 33.
-
Pauly: It's very political out here.
-
Pauly: It's pretty funny casting-wise to have Carrot-Top move into my house and kick me out.
-
Pauly: It's just kind of like me making fun of a period in my life when people didn't see me around for a while.
-
Pauly: It's called Pauly Shore is Dead. I wrote it and directed it. I've been working on it for about four years.
-
Pauly: It's all make-believe. Like Carrot-Top moves into my house. That's not real.
-
Pauly: It was Sam Kinison. I brought him back from the dead.
-
Pauly: It was inherent and in the air what I was feeling; not being the hot guy anymore.
-
Pauly: In the Army Now... every comedian does an army movie.
-
Pauly: If I did become my character, I'd probably be homeless right now.
-
Pauly: I've been playing Sacramento for a long time. And every time I played up there it's been really good for me.
-
Pauly: I'm not used to getting good reviews.
-
Pauly: I'm lost in New York. I gotta get out of the cab.
-
Pauly: I'm Jewish. I've always had a thing where it's okay to dance with the devil, just don't become the devil.
-
Pauly: I'm in a taxi with a whole bunch of people. They're molesting me.
-
I'm doing more stand-up shows.
-
I was used to people dissing me.
-
I was the butt of jokes. You'd watch Letterman and different shows, and critics would always make jabs.
-
I was one of the first veejays to take the camera out on location, and that's what was unique about MTV at that time.
-
I was lucky enough that the people that I pitched, the celebrities, they got the joke. They thought it was funny, and they loved the fact that I'm paying for it.
-
I was in an office to do studio movies. I thought at the time that the projects were right, but then you look back and what I did at the time was create something that was bigger than life.
-
I was going to marry Britney, but she pulled out at the last minute.
-
I was down-and-out. I couldn't get it financed. No one would step up. I got so frustrated and pissed off.
-
I wanted to appeal to my audience-the Midwest people who love the Wiezel and goofy stuff-and I also wanted to appeal to people who never liked my stuff.
-
I started crying naked in the bathtub, I thought Burns was passing me the comedy baton.
-
I remember taking mushrooms at the wrap party, it was like the first and last time I took that.
-
Pauly: I never got into The Jetsons too much.
-
I liked Evel Knievel, and that game Mouse Trap. That was pretty cool.
-
I like the new U2. I also like Joe Walsh. I like all types of stuff.
-
I kinda slowed down and went away for a while.
-
I kind of was raised at The Comedy Store by comedians. When you see my dad on stage before me and then you see me, you'll see where I got a lot of my stuff.
-
I kind of milked the character and the movie format for awhile. I want to take a step back and prove to myself that I can do other things and just be funny.
-
I just kind of learned along the way. When I came at it with that attitude, everything started falling into place.
-
I just finished a movie.
-
I had an unbelievable run. I starred in like six movies.
-
I grew up I the business and know that careers went up or down. I didn't think I did anything wrong.
-
I don't know what a grinder is.
-
I couldn't get the right people I wanted to represent me.
-
I am a guy that people relate to, and that's the weasel character.
-
Hot gets the sub, and cold goes with the grinder.
-
Pauly: Few if any teenagers can relate to getting up for school and finding famous comics like Pryor and Williams hanging out in your living room after a hard night of partying. But that's Hollywood.
-
Curse of Inferno... I really loved working with Janine Turner. Nedd Beatty. It's a little bank heist movie that Showtime made. It was never supposed to be a big studio movie.
-
Britney has a pretty funny cameo in the film, when she tries to remember who Pauly is, and it clicks.
-

-
Bobcat Goldthwait, I saw his last HBO special and I wanted to like it, but for me comedically I think he comes across angry.
-
Bio-Dome... I wanted to just be retarded in a movie. I wanted to be over the top. Goofy with Stephen Baldwin.
-
Anytime someone in this business is very much out there and then they're not out there? Immediately people think something bad happened.
-
America's Most Wanted? I love it when there's a guy in the back seat pounding his head on the plexiglas. That to me is the best.
-
All these kids in Hollywood, the people born and raised out here, their parents are all in show business, and that's why I think we're good. That's why we're on top of the game now because we were born in it.
-
