Pernell Roberts

pernell played adam cartwright to be a strong character. I think he did well with it. Of all the episodes of Bonanza I liked the one when he took over roy coffee's job as sheriff. It was only temperary of course but it was a well thought out episode. As the town's people start to think that roy is getting to old for the job adam steps in to help out his friend, Roy himself is beginning to doubt his skill as being sheriff, but as tv fate would have it a gang of outlaws comes to town to rob the bank. Roy proves to everyone that while he may be old that doesn't mean he's not smart. He and adam out smart the bandits,by having them think they are letting them rob the bank, but instead roy traps them in the banks vault, no fights, no shots were fired and the outcome is positive. I know that may seem boring by today's standard of blood and guts tv, but it says a lot for strong characterization. and pernell brought that to the roles he played in.

Pernell Roberts was the best part of Bonanza. The best looking (toupee or not), the best actor and a voice to die for. I recently started watching reruns on cable and will only watch those with Pernell. Can't wait for the cycle to get back to the years Adam was part of the show. Wish he'd do more voice over/narration - I just love listening to his voice.



Even as a very young girl when Bonanza premiered, I instantly gravitated to Pernell. All my girlfriends were all giggly about "Little Joe" but I was all "Adam." They thought I was nuts. He still makes me sigh.

Pernell Ronberts is one of the most underrated actors of all times. He deserved so much more. He was such an exceptional actor. The man had talent. And no matter what he was in, he THE star, guest appearances and all. As I said, he's an actor's actor. He is what many actors strive to be. And he was/is a principled man who did what he believed in, no matter what anyone else thought. And that is refreshing when it comes to all the conformists, past and present. I have been one of the lucky ones to have met this man in person and he is the most gracious and giving of people. If I hadn't been a fan before meeting him, I would truly be one now.

Bonanza is my favourite t.v.series. I've watched it since I was about 10 with my grandmother; I'm 41 now.Fortunately, It's always on in my country (Argentina ).Adam is for me the best Cartwright; he always gives the right opinion,he is the most mature of the three brothers;when he falls in love he's so respectful and romantic!Moreover, he's extremely handsome (still nowadays).

I'd like to meet Pernell; It would be a dream come true.

Watching Bonanza is a tradition in my family that has been transmitted from generation to generation. My children age 15 and 17 love it!We plan our daily activities to watch it together.

He is so so handsome, charming, and a great person at what he does with his family. he is the best. I like it when his brothers are introuble he always there to bail them out and the younger brothers get in more trouble than he does. but when his brothers try to con him into doing something he always has to ask his father for advice. thats what a real family does they are always there for you.

I liked ole Adam on \\\'Nanner. He did a pretty good job as the older brother to L. Joe and Hoss. When he left the show it went downhill noticeably though it remained a pretty good Western, at least until that younger kid-what\\\'s his name-came on the show. Even the Candy episodes weren\\\'t all that bad.



I\\\'m pretty sure Pernell thought he was too good for the show at least as an ACTORE. I suppose he wanted to cavort in a Shakespearean play or some sort. I remember once on the Mike Douglas show(I think) many years ago, Mel from the Dick Van Dyke Show shamed Pernell into saying \\\"Thank you Bonanza\\\" for what the show had contributed to his career.

I\'m French and I don\'t speak any word of english, which I regret a lot!

The only purpose I could find about you in France is a movie: \"Les aventuriers dur Kashmir\" and \"Bonanza\" which is on TV at the moment. I\'m delighted to follow your tv programm since 1974!

I know you\'ve been working a lot to reach your current status and I really hope you\'ve been awarded for that.



I wish you to retire quietly and above all to keep you safe.

Pernell Roberts played on the hits t.v. Western BONANZA!He played Adam Cartwright the Eldest son.

His chacter was played as Smart,intellgent,and Level headed!He was the Bright one of the cartwrights.But,then quited the show after 6years.

Then was forgotted.Untill Trapper John.But,still alot of people say if he stucked to Bonanza he would have been a bigger star!
