Actor and director Peter Bonerz was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, but grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating from Marquette University Bonerz tried his hand at stand up comedy and found he had a talent for improvisation. He worked with improv groups in New York and San Francisco before moving to Los Angeles to try his hand at acting. He became a household name when he was cast as Jerry in The Bob Newhart Show in 1972. Bonerz showed talent behind the camera, directing 29 episodes of The Bob Newhart Show. Since the show ended in 1978 Bonerz has done little acting, but has become a prolific director, working behind the camera on television and in feature films.
