Peter Strauss is an American actor best known for his roles in a number of television shows and mini-series during the 1970s and 1980s. Strauss was born on February 20, 1947 in Croton-on-Hudson, New York and graduated from Northwestern University in 1969. He made his screen debut in the 1970 feature Blue Soldier. He gained an international following for his portrayal of Rudy Jordache in the 1976 mini-series Rich Man, Poor Man. After appearing in the sequel, Rich Man, Poor Man: Book II, Strauss went on to win an Emmy for his role in the made-for-television drama The Jericho Mile. Strauss has appeared in many other movie and television shows, including Law and Order, XXX State of the Union, Royal Pains, Murder on the Orient Express, The Streets of San Francisco, and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. An avid gardener, Strauss can be seen on Miracle-Gro commercials. He has been married to fellow actor Rachel Ticotin since 1998.
