Is an American activist and actress, known for her role as Clair Huxtable in the 1980s television series, The Cosby Show.



Rashad first became notable on the stage with a string of Broadway credits, including a role in the company of the Tony Award-winning musical Dreamgirls and in the film The Wiz (cameo as a munchkin as Phylicia Ayres Allen) as well as the original Broadway production (Dorothy). She credits her 1983 break on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live "to the presence of God within me."

    Ms. Phylicia Rashad Born June 19, 1948 to Mr. and Ms. Author Allen. Phylicia was inspired at the tender age of twelve years old to become an actress. Phylicia then became interested in theatre and enjoy watching her mother perform as a poet and singer/songwriter. Born Phylicia Ayers-Allen in Houston, Texas, this multi-talented performer is a magna cum laude graduate of Howard University. After college, Phylicia pursued an acting career in New York, where she was featured in such productions as The Cherry Orchard and Weep Not for Me. Her first appearance was a 1976 guest spot on Delvecchio.
    Phylicia married William Bowles in 1972. They’re marriage ended in 1973, out of this marriage came Phylicia’s first child Billy Bowles. Phylicia then married Victor Willis in 1975. One year later they divorced. In 1985 Phylicia then married Ahmad Rashad, they had a Daughter who they named Phylea Rashad. She also has a daughter who lives in Houston TX her name is Brianna.
