When the 2009 film The Time Traveler's Wife was in its early planning stages, former married couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were in talks to star. Eventually, the roles of the movie's two love interests went to Rachel and her co-star, Eric Bana.
The casting director for the 2003 film Mean Girls has said that she truly feels that any "mean" character in a movie needs to be played by someone who is really sweet in real life, because they're the people who usually understand the role best. This is one of the reasons why Rachel was chosen to play the mean-spirited Regina George in the movie.
Rachel: Who do we think we're kidding? Guys love a good love story just as much as women. I can't tell you the number of guys who have come up to me to tell me that they cried during The Notebook. They had to get it off their chest! [They say] "I didn't go into it willingly, but I really loved it".
Rachel: I grew up in a small town, in a small house, with a raspberry bush in the backyard...I think one thing that kids who grow up on farms really have going for them is that they have an exposure to birth and death that is completely different. I think it takes away some of the mystery, some of the fear.
Rachel: A kiss with anyone, on or off camera, can be intimidating. Ive been kissing for nearly two decades now, and I'm always convinced I'm not doing it right.
