Randy's father, legendary producer, Aaron Spelling passed away on June 23, 2006 at the age of 83. A few weeks before his father's death, Randy had his initials tattooed on his shoulder as a "reminder of him always."
In early 2007, Randy shocked the entertainment world when he announced that when he was 17 years old he "deflowered" socialite Paris Hilton, who was 15 years old at the time. He has since denied saying it.
Randy says that when he first joined the cast of Sunset Beach he was very intimidated to work with Lesley-Anne Down. He calls her one of the most incredible women he's ever met.
When Randy was born he weighed only 4 1/2 pounds and suddenly dropped to 2 1/2 pounds, prompting his parents to believe he wasn't going to make it. Aaron Spelling called the day he finally brought his son home from the hospital, "the happiest day of our lives."
In the late 90s Randy was part of a three man hip-hop band called Lynx. From there he branched into the record business and formed his own record label called Spellbound/Vocab Records.
Randy's favorite movies include Titanic, City of Angels, and Good Will Hunting. He says that when he first saw Titanic he 'felt like he was on the boat.'
Randy: (on his future) I definitely want to continue acting and eventually go behind the camera - whether I'm writing scripts, directing or producing. My dad always told me, 'If it's in your heart, then follow your dreams and you will succeed.'
Randy: (on why he wanted to appear in a reality series) I wanted to clear up misconceptions about who I am as I've found that having a famous last name there are certain stereotypes associated with that and I wanted to put a face, personality and heart behind my last name.
Randy: (on living in his father's shadow) It's like trying to fit into Shaq O'Neal's shoes. Never gonna happen. I mean, my dad's in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most prolific producer in history!
Randy: There's more to life than making money, having nice things and living the high life. I didn't grow up thinking everyone lived in a big house and had tons of money. My parents always raised me with morals and to respect money.
Randy: (about his father, Aaron Spelling) My favorite thing when I was young was to go to his studio, and we would eat lunch together. I would sit in on some of the casting or some of the rough-cuts. I loved watching everyone work and seeing what everyone had to say. I would definitely go into producing or writing.
