Despite owning his own business, Richard is dyslexic.

On 12 October 2006, Richard stated that he plans to invest $3 billion of "Virgin's" profits over 10 years to fight global warming.

Richard is married to Joan Templeman and together they have two children.

Richard was ranked No.9 on the Sunday Times Rich List of 2006. He was ranked No.7 in 2005.
