    • Rick was seriously considered for the Broadway play Funny Girl, starring opposite Barbra Streisand, until he disclosed that he couldn't sing.
    • While assigned to the army base near Nashville, Rick met an ex-broadway actor named Raymond Johnson at the Community Playhouse. Rick learned the rudiments of acting from him and appeared in about 10 plays there.
