Rob played guitar and sang songs in local restaurants in order to pay for his school.
Rob graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Latin and English.
Rob played ice hockey when he was a child and he wanted to become a professional player, but he suffered a bad injury at the age of 17 while playing ice hockey and he lost a kidney, which halted his dream of becoming a professional hockey player.
Rob grew up in Bramalea (now part of Brampton), which is north west of Toronto.
