    • Washington Theatre Club resident actor Robert Darnell chatted with audience members, including students and ex-students, after a lead performance in the 1970 premiere of emotionally wrenching Lanford Wilson drama Serenading Louie, in which he had sat silently facing the audience (during others' dialogue) and wept for several minutes. Asked how he had called up all those tears, he confessed he'd been thinking about how, when he was a child, someone had stolen his bicycle.

    • Robert Darnell was a resident actor at the Washington Theatre Club in the 1960s. As such, he not only performed in company productions but taught classes in improvisation to the small group of teenagers who were enrolled in the Club's actor training program.
