Well-known American character player, often cast as suave smoothies who are not too pleasant. His first film work was in 1951, but TV mostly occupied him in the 50s; he had a star role in Tennessee Williams's "Period Of Adjustment" on Broadway in 1960 and thereafter film roles were quite numerous - in "The Sandpiper", "The Dirty Dozen", "$", "S.O.B", "Nuts" and many others. He was, however, not in the "In A Heartbeat" series, which began 11 years after his death, or in the British-made "Rivals Of Sherlock Holmes" series - that's another Robert Webber.
