Robin Mark Ventura
Known for his class, professionalism, and good sense of humor, Robin Ventura added plenty to the Yankees in 2002 following a trade from the New York Mets. Ventura, who was dealt for David Justice, enjoyed a blistering start to the season and ended up with strong numbers -- 27 home runs, 90 walks and 93 RBI -- in helping the Yankees solidify their defense and return to the playoffs.

Robin spent the previous three seasons in Flushing, where he helped the Mets to a World Series appearance in 2000. His best season was in 1999, however, when he poked 38 doubles, 32 home runs and a

More career-best 120 RBI. Robin also hit a career-high .301 for the Mets, though his average dropped below .240 the next two years. Robin spent the first decade of his career with the Chicago White Sox, where he had two 100-plus RBI seasons (100 in 1991, 105 in 1996) and won five of his six Gold Gloves. Robin also rocked 20 or more homers five times over that span.

Robin had an excellent amateur baseball career prior to joining the White Sox. He had an awesome 58-game hitting streak at Oklahoma State University and went on to play for the U.S. Olympic team in 1988, where he hit .409 for the gold-medal winning squad.
