  • From his 'Happy Days' to the wickedly funny (if short-lived) 'The Help', this is one of TV comedy's most brilliant and original minds.

You wouldn't know by looking at him how bright he is, but once he opens his mouth and you start laughing, you know where funny comes from. From his Paramount days on Garry Marshall shows, through his brilliant work (with Michael Moye, also his collaborator on much of MWC) on 'The Jeffersons', to the single crowning achievement of his career (at least so far), Married With Children. The Simpsons didn't make Fox -- it was Married With Children (and maybe a touch of 21 Jump Street). The greatest sitcom and anti-sitcom of all time, it gave us the holy couple, Al and Peg Bundy, and Kelly and Bud and Buck, Marcy and every single one of her husbands and lovers. And Frank the Stunt Man. Ron gave a network TV platform to Sam Kinison when no one else seemed willing. Unhappily Ever After may have been a lesser work, but it had moments that cut every competing show on the 'real' nets. This guy is the real deal.moreless
