Ron Livingston

(When asked about Matt and Emily's relationship) Ron: There are obstacles… You know, it's got to find its own way. At least in the beginning, without giving too much away, they're gonna try to see how it develops. It's not something we throw out in the first episode and then walk away from. It's not like a Seinfeld thing where, "Oh yeah, they used to be girlfriend and boyfriend," and then that's it.

(When asked to describe Rosemarie DeWitt in three words) Livingston: Hot, hotter, hottest!

(speaking about bluffing while playing Poker) Ron Livingston: Everybody thinks that actors would be really good at bluffing, but I think it's a little backward. Good actors, you always know what they're thinking. That's why they're good actors.

(on why he moved to Chicago to pursue an acting career) Ron Livingston: It was within Greyhound striking distance of home. It was a good place to start out.

(speaking of his role in Sex and the City) Ron Livingston: I think being one of Carrie Bradshaw's boyfriends is sort of like the romantic lead stamp of approval.

Ron Livingston: You take pretty much any girl in America, and if you stick a Miss October sash on her, she's not buying drinks for the rest of her life.

Ron Livingston: Flight attendants all over the world saw "Sex and the City." Doesn't matter what country you are in. The flight attendants know Jack Berger.

(joked at the Television Critics Association's summer meeting) Ron Livingston: I don't have to wait in line as long at nightclubs.

Reporter: Have you read much Stephen King? Ron Livingston: I've read some of the short stories. I read The Shining as a kid and it scared the bejeezus out of me.

Reporter: How was working with Henry [Thomas]? Ron Livingston: Henry was fantastic and a consummate professional. He's really bright as well. That's the one thing I was worried about. The whole thing was going to be about what a genius this kid is so I hoped that they wouldn't get some yob to come in [laughs].

(speaking of his two brothers and his sister) Reporter: Are any of them smarter than you? Ron Livingston: They're all smarter than me. (laughs)

(speaking of the movie Pirates (2003)) Ron Livingston: Eric McCormack directed it and there is directing talent waiting to happen.

Reporter: How is Wayne Kramer as a first time director? Ron Livingston: Fantastic. No, he was absolutely fantastic. You'd never know. ... He was very, I don't want to say sure of himself in a cocky way, but he was very secure on the set. He didn't feel like he had to throw his weight around.

(speaking of the movie Office Space (1999)) Reporter: So how was it playing the bad guy? Ron Livingston: This was great. This was fun. I don't always get to do a lot of bad guys. You know with this one, a lot of the stuff that I have done had been not only the likable guy but like the nice likable guy.

(asked about luck) Ron Livingston: It depends on how you define it. I say the one thing about luck is you can't really count on it.

(asked about his interest in Stephen King) Ron Livingston: I read some of the horror stuff when I was young. You know, the guy is so prolific; you have to be a pretty avid reader to keep up with the pace at which he writes.
