Tough-looking Australian actor who arrived in Hollywood in the 1940s and was signed by Columbia Pictures. He was given star roles, but mostly in B-pictures. After the end of this contract, he did a lot of work in England, hosting the panel game "What's My Line?" and starring in a series, "O.S.S."; he was also seen in the British movie, "I Am A Camera". In the first half of the 60s, he made many films in Europe, his biggest role being as a centurion in "King Of Kings". He returned to Broadway several times throughout his long career, but had been long unseen at the time of his death.
