Rosemary Harris was born in her grandmother's home in Suffolk, England. Her father's career in the Royal Air Force (RAF) meant she spent the first six years of her life in India. The family returned to England in time for World War II where her mother succumbed to pneumonia following a bout with the flu in the village of Mylor, Cornwall.
Rosemary began her award-winning career as a student at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London where she won the Gold Medal. She easily transitioned to professional stage roles, traveling between Broadway and the British stage

Married to author John Ehle since 1967, her daughter is Jennifer Ehle of Pride and Prejudice fame. Meanwhile, she continues to delight audiences of the stage, large and small screens with her many roles, such as May Parker from Spiderman.
