Trivia and Quotes

  • A true legend

The reason I wanted a guitar in the first place was because of Roy Clark. He's done variety shows, talk shows & a game show (Hollywood Squares).

Roy was a pioneer when he was the first country performer to headline the Las Vegas strip as well as perform in Russia (1976 & 1988).

His 23 years of Hee Haw was well worth it, playing the poet laurette George Strawberry & the owner of Empty Arms Hotel.

In 1992, he came to Houston to do a Broadway play called Paint Your Wagon. While in Houston, he made an appearance on the Ron Stone Show (local talk show seen on KPRC-2 NBC). On that show, I finally talked to Roy Clark on the telephone; roasting his efforts & mentioned about his 1984 concert @ the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. I ended by saying, "You're the country edition of New Kids On The Block!" All that in a 45 second conversation with Roy.moreless
