Rupert Friend was born on October 1, 1981, in Oxfordshire, England. During his youth, he attended the Marlborough School in Woodstock and later went on to the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London.While he was originally not very interested in drama, he had a natural talent and soon decided to pursue a career as an actor. In 2004, Friend got a lucky break, landing a sought-after role in The Libertine. He starred opposite Johnny Depp and was recognized by the Satellite Awards as an actor to watch. The next year, his role as Mr. Wickham in Pride & Prejudice earned him similar accolades. In 2008, Friend decided to star in and write his own film, The Continuing and Lamentable Saga of the Suicide Brothers. He worked on the project with a friend, actor Tom Mison. In 2010, Friend was again involved in the making of a film, this one titled Steve. Friend has appeared in the 2009 movie Young Victoria. He dated actress Kiera Knightley for five years, between 2005 and 2010.
