Mulcahy first became known for his music promos/videos, working with the likes of Duran Duran, Elton John, Billy Joel and Ultravox. In fact, "Video Killed the Radio Star" -- the first video shown on MTV -- was directed by Mulcahy, and many of the 80's video cliches are a result of others imitating Mulcahy's style. Mulcahy went on to direct such films as "Highlander" (the original and first sequel) and "The Shadow" (with Alec Baldwin), as well as "Tale of the Mummy" (starring Jason Scott Lee), which Mulcahy also wrote.
